The Mandate of the Congregation

Mission is first of all God's concern. Jesus was conscious of the fact that he was sent by the Father to proclaim the Good News to the poor (Lk 4:18). To continue his mission in history, he founded the Church and endowed it with the Holy Spirit. She should become for all men the sacrament of salvation (AG 5). Therefore the Church is essentially missionary (AG 2).

The missionary task of the Church is

• to announce and make present to all men the love of the Father as manifested in the life and work, in the death and resurrection of Christ;

• to reconcile men with God and with one another and unite them in love;

• to gather up mankind's response in the Holy Spirit, through Christ, to the glory of the Father.

The Congregation shares the missionary task of the Church in a special way (AG 23). She considers it her task:

• to cooperate in announcing the Gospel, especially among those peoples who do not yet believe in Christ;

• to help establish and build up local churches;

• to work for justice and the liberation of man as a whole;

• to keep alive and deepen among the faithful a sense of responsibility for the whole Church;

• to promote mission vocations and support spiritually and materially the mission work.

Even if the members of our Congregation have different tasks and services, they live their missionary vocation by co-operating in the fulfillment of the Congregation's mandate.
